Pattern Making and Sewing Level 1

This course provides the student with the tools and language necessary for the development of creativity and the expression of ideas, culminating in a personal fashion project through the exploration of various design concepts. We offer theoretical knowledge along with practical training hours, including both hand and machine sewing. We believe that technique forms the foundation for growth in this field, enabling students to craft their own garments.

Objectives:

1.1 Apply specific fashion knowledge, always guided by the instructor.

1.2 Develop design projects based on different proposed themes.

1.3 Design, pattern, and sew.

Sewing

The course aims for students to be able to trace, develop, and cut various types of garments and assemble them by the end. The learning encompasses the basics of sewing, cutting, and fittings (toile).

Pattern Making

Students gain knowledge in pattern making, a fundamental tool in the creative process, providing the pathway to turn an idea into reality. Transformation of base patterns equips the student with solid knowledge for future interpretations of any model. Base patterns and transformations, piece separation, and preparation for garment construction are covered. Symbolism aids in synthesizing and interpreting patterns.
